Abstract

A final attempt by abortion opponents to derail a bill reaffirming a woman's right to an abortion in the early stages of pregnancy failed, and the bill was enacted by wide margins in both houses of the Legislature. Gov. McKernan is almost certain to sign the bill, which he submittd and a third of the Legislature's members co-sponsored.
