Abstract

Scientist predict a lower than usual shrimp catch this winter. To allow the stock to rebuild, they recommend that the season be shortened from the usual 5 to 6 months to only 2 months. Fishermen and processors intend to fight the proposal. A decision will be made on October 28 by the Northern Shrimp Section of the Atlantic States Marine Fisheries Commission.
