Abstract

Sub Sea International of New Orleans has positioned a barge off the site of the submerged Empire Knight, the British ship that sank in 1944 and is suspected of containing as much as 16,000 pounds of mercury. Sea sediments and marine life in the vicinity of the wreck will be checked for toxic levels of the harmful metal. Details.
