Abstract

Boothbay Harbor split off from Boothbay 106 years ago, as the result of a bitter dispute over water. In July, a group of selectmen from Boothbay proposed to their counterparts in Boothbay Harbor that the towns join together again as one. The two towns share a number of facilities, and some taxpayers wonder why the region needs two town managers, two fire stations and two separate bureaucracies. The Reunification Committee will research the issue over the next few years. Details.
