Abstract

The Center for Marine Conservation has asked the National Marine Fisheries Service for emergency regulations while the New England Fisheries Management Council completes a comprehensive management plan for the Gulf of Maine's groundfish. The center's fisheries conservation director says that cod and haddock populations are severely depleted, and measures are necessary to increase their protection.
