Abstract

The annual cookie sale is the biggest fund-raiser for the Kennebec Girl Scout Council. On March 6, the 84-year-old organization had a serious crisis, with telephone lines jammed due to complaints that the Samoa-flavored cookies were rock-hard. The council sent out a press release saying the cookies were perfectly fresh, and could be softened with a five-to-ten-second blast in the microwave.
