Abstract

Regional Waste Systems general manager Charles Foshay is questioning a recent statement by Maine Waste Management Agency executive director Sherry Huber that the state's target of recycling 50 percent of all waste is a goal and not a mandate, and that her agency's role is to encourage but not police recycling efforts by the municipalities in the state. Foshay wanted clarification on the issue because of Regional Waste System's commitment to and expenditures on recycling.
