Abstract

Vaughn C. Anthony, Ph.D., who recently retired after 35 years as a stock assessment scientist for the National Marine Fisheries Service, is convinced that the Gulf of Maine can be made healthier and more vigorous than ever. Anthony believes that the information that makes good resource management possible is available, but that good management requires proactive leadership and a comprehensive understanding of what needs to be done. He says that there should be coordinated short-term restrictions in place that will produce long-term benefits. Details.
