Abstract

The federal Internal Revenue Service last week attempted to auction off the Hartford home of Ed Harvey and Elizabeth Gravalos, but failed to attract any bidders. The couple's blueberry field and one woodlot were auctioned off, and the IRS will put the home up for bid again next month. A group of fellow tax resistors from around the country assembled with Harvey and Gravalos in Hartford the night before the auction to support the couple and discuss their efforts. Supporters held a protest rally before bidding was opened and collected some $3,100 in unpaid federal taxes, which was used to cover tax liens for eight other families in danger of losing their homes.
