Abstract

Bracken, the sole surviving caribou in Maine from the ill-fated Maine Caribou Relocation Project, died of enterotoxemia, a disease that usually strikes healthy young livestock. All of the 32 caribou brought from Newfoundland in 1986 died, half from brainworm and the rest from bear predation.
