Abstract

Maine Businesses for Social Responsibility last week criticized Bill Vail of Citizens for a Healthy Forest and Economy for running negative television commercials about the referendum on clear-cutting and forest practices. The advertisement fail to educate the public about the Compact for Maine Forests, which Vail's group supports, and attacks the Green Party by name. The Green Party is closely affiliated with the Ban clear-cutting effort, but the two groups are separate. The Natural Resources Council of Maine agrees with MBSR that the advertisements are negative.
