Abstract

The New Gloucester Public Library is relocating next winter. In preparation for the move the staff and a corps of volunteers are sorting through 17,000 volumes to trim the collection. Freeport's library will move from its downtown location next summer, but it weeded its collection in 1988 when it computerized its catalog. Bangor Public Library recently relocated to temporary quarters, and when it returns to a renovated building in December 1997 nearly all of its 500,000 volumes will be hauled back again.
