Abstract

There are five nonprofit centers in Maine that cater to the needs of grieving children, offering weekly support groups for youths and their parents. The centers in Bath, Augusta, Bangor and York have only one paid staff member each, while the Center for Grieving Children in South Portland has four full-time salaried workers and operates on a budget that is nearly double the combined budgets of the other four. Critics question some of the priorities of the South Portland center. Details.
