Abstract

State representative Michael Brennan sponsored legislation for a $25 million bond issue to build three or more new mental health instutitions. The Maine Legislature's Appropriations Committee this month voted unanimously to hold the bill over until January. The Legislature and the Maine Department of Mental Health will work to perfect a community treatment plan in the coming months. State representative George Kerr said a bond issue will succeed only as part of an overall pattern that addresses the needs of the whole state. Details.
