Abstract

The Maine Department of Environmental Protection is negotiating with AT&T and its contractor over apparent violations resulting from environmental damage caused by crews installing AT&T's new fiber-optic cables along a 140-mile route. DEP is in the process of negotiating an administrative consent agreement and enforcement order. Michaels Pipeline crews began installing the two-inch cable housing last June. The project completes an international connection by linking lines from Bangor to Canada with lines from Portland to the rest of the country. Details.
