Abstract
Profile of James Varner, 62, of Old Town, president of the Greater Bangor Area chapter of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. Varner came to Maine in 1953 as a freshman at the University of Maine at Orono. He returned to the state after teaching science in New Jersey and working with anti-poverty programs.
