Abstract

Details on last week's public hearing in Newry on the proposed Passamaquoddy bingo parlor in Albany Township. The Maine Land Use Regulation Commission has jurisdiction over the plan, and will have to decide if the parlor serves a community need. The proposed 43,000-square-foot bingo hall would be situated on an 18.3-acre parcel five miles north of Bethel, and would be financed by Tamir Sapir's Snake River Financing of New York. Most of the 100 area residents at the public hearing were opposed to the project.
