Abstract

The state's eagle populations have increased from 29 nesting pairs in the 1970s to 129, yet bald eagles off the coast of Maine have the lowest reporoductive success of eagles anywhere on the continent. A three-year University of Maine study will monitor feeding and nesting habits of Maine's eagle population to try and determine what causes the poor reproductive success rate.
