Abstract

Details on the Maine Legislature's work on a variety of bills affecting the future of the state's forests. The Legislature's Agriculture, Conservation and Forestry Committee is looking at eight bills, which would prohibit clear-cutting; reform the tree growth tax law; make changes to the 1989 Forest Practices Act; develop a list of municipal laws related to forestry practices; and establish a committee to study state forestry practices.
