Abstract

Maine's newest Job Corps Center is the linchpin of the Loring Commerce Center at the former Loring Air Force Base in Limestone. It currently serves as the training facility for 350 students in a dozen occupations and is the alternative to the Maine Youth Center or jail for some students. Students come from all six New England states and receive social skills as well as job training. The center is funded by the U. S. Department of Labor and is run by the Training Development Corporation of Bucksport.
