Abstract
Feature article about philanthropy in Maine and a coalition of five small grant-making organizations that have joined together called Maine Funders for Change (MFC), which collectively have several million dollars in assets and make grants and loans totaling hundreds of thousands of dollars each year. The five organizations include Genesis Community Loan Fund in Bristol, Maine Women's Fund in Portland, MaineShare and Maine Initiatives, both in Augusta, and the Maine Board of the Boston-based Haymarket People's Fund.
