Abstract

Recent altercations among lobstermen in Portland Harbor have resulted in a Maine Marine Patrol curfew of 4 P.M. on lobstering in the harbor, but the problem doesn't end there. The decline in haddock, cod and other groundfish has more fishermen turning to lobstering, and federal scientists say that the number of lobster being taken is more than the number necessary for the fishery to sustain itself.
