Abstract

The Maine Board of Pesticides Control is granting so many applications for variances that it's considering loosening its guidelines. The changes, which will reduce requirements for identifying and mapping "sensitive areas" along roadsides in preparation for spraying herbicides, reflect both changing technologies and a new awareness of environmental issues among applicators.
