Abstract

Bangor Hydro-Electric Co. has proposed both stocking and a trap-and-truck system to compensate for the expected effect that its Basin Mills hydroelectric project will have on the Penobscot River's Atlantic salmon population. To all the federal and state agencies which have testified against Basin Mills, the utility's proposals run counter to the final goal of a sustainable run of wild fish. The Maine Board of Environmental Protection will consider the Basin Mills project next week. Details, related article.
