Abstract

"News & Issues" piece on twelve educators from the Lochend School in Glasgow, Scotland, who came to Bangor last week as part of a five-day summit meeting with American counterparts to learn how to put new educational techniques, such as immersion and project-based learning, into practice. The Lochend School has about 800 students, ages 11-18, and is one of 64 schools in Scotland to offer health care, social services and education under one roof. Headmaster Alastair Struthers brought his staff to Maine because he was so impressed with the Penobscot Job Corps Center in Bangor after touring it last summer.
