Abstract

"News & Issues" piece on new guidelines from the federal Environmental Protection Agency that make emissions trading unworkable at the Wyman Station electric-generating plant on Cousins Island in Yarmouth. There was no immediate reaction from FPL Energy, the plant's owners, but the company has said previously that it might close the plant if it were forced to make a full clean-up of nitrogen oxides emissions. FPL has claimed it would cost more than $50 million to meet the standard.
