Abstract
"News" piece on two legislative bills that would have ensured easier motorized access to the Allagash Wilderness Waterway. Both were rejected by the 120th Legislature, leaving it to the courts and the federal government to resolve the issue. Protection of the Allagash's wilderness nature is also an issue in the lawsuit brought Nov. 30 against the state by seven conservation groups and individuals.
