Abstract
"News" piece on aquatic pesticides, which are available for over-the-counter sale in Maine, but none are legal for unlicensed use in public waters. In response to concern over milfoil, algae and insect pests, a growing number of Mainers are adapting such products for their own use, breaking laws and risking damage to the ecosystem and public health.
