Abstract
"John's Column" on the recent release of 700 adult Atlantic salmon worth about $50,000. When they return in a year or two to the Dennys, Machias and St. Croix rivers, they will be capable of creating more than a million fertilized eggs. If 1 percent of those survive infancy and their first year in the river, they will constitute the largest Atlantic salmon year-class Maine has seen in many years.
