Abstract

"News" piece on the Maine Democratic Party's probe of Green Independent gubernatorial candidate Jonathan Carter's campaign. Democrats say Carter may have violated the state's Clean Elections Act by including a "consultant's analysis" in a fundraising letter. The analysis contains statewide polling data worth about $20,000, according to Democrats, which is a contribution not listed on Carter's disclosure forms. But Carter claims the data was gathered before he officially entered the gubernatorial race.
