Abstract

The Finance Authority of Maine has generated 10 percent of a $5 million loan package by the town of Carrabassett Valley and a bank to the privately held Sugarloaf Mountain Corporation. The action, the first time FAME has guaranteed a town loan to a private business, was opposed by FAME staff analyst Duncan McKellar, who compared the relationship between the town and Sugarloaf as similar to a stockholder relationship with a private company.
