Abstract

Bowdoin College officials proposed a package of job cuts, early retirement and increased enrollment aimed at erasing a persistent budget deficit by 1994. Faculty members claim that overspending on athletics, student services and administration during the 1980s is responsible for the deficit, which dropped from nearly $1 million two years ago to $350,000 this year. Details, including comparison chart with Bates and Colby.
