Abstract

Whitefield area residents are concerned about a plan by Harry Crooker & Sons to construct an asphalt plant in a gravel pit in the town. The plant would consume 500 gallons of diesel fuel an hour, and opponents of the plant doubt that a proposed synthetic ground liner would protect the groundwater if a spill should occur. The proposed plant would produce 80,000 tons of hot top each week and operate for 18 weeks in the summer and fall. Details.
