Abstract

The state Ground Water Planning Committee in June released a report entitled "A Generic State Management Plan for Pesticides and Ground Water," which allows levels of the blueberry herbicide Velpar up to 210 parts per billion. Backers of a moratorium on the use of Velpar are not likely to receive any help from the state Board of Pesticides Control, since the highest level of Velpar found to date in Maine wells is 29 parts per billion. A decision by the board on the proposed moratorium is due by October 25. Details.
