Abstract

Pro-choice advocates feel that if a woman cannot control her reproductive destiny she has no chance to control her life, while anti-abortion activists can't understand how anyone could believe that a person has the right to take a human life. Without a middle ground, the abortion debate has become a battle, and recently in Maine the confrontation between the two sides has escalated. Abortion protestor Ed Gerrish of Stockton Springs and fellow protestors have contributed to decisions by two clinics to stop performing abortions, and Gerrish has other abortion providers targeted for protests.
