Full exterior view of South Portland Church of the Nazarene, 525 Highland Avenue, South Portland, from north.
"Founded in 1900 by 'seven young men hungry for spirituality.' according to a contemporary newspaper account, the South Portland Church of the Nazarene has been in its present quarters at 525 Highland Avenue, next door to South Portland High School, since 1972. The parish's original home on Sawyer Street, dedicated on New Year's Day in 1904, is now occupied by the Portland Lyric Theater." (Evening Express, 27 July 1985, p.5)
