"Cover Story" piece on a weekly batterers intervention class held at Portland's YMCA. The men in attendance are given a choice by the court: either go to weekly classes or sit in jail. With comments by Mary Campbell, director of Opportunity for Change; Lois Galgay Reckitt, executive director of Family Crisis Services; and Roger Zimmerman, a psychologist, all in Portland. Also with excerpts from conversations with batterers who have opted to attend the classes rather than go to jail.
