Abstract

"City" piece on a flier distributed by the Maine People's Alliance (MPA) that was distributed to Democratic households in House District 32. Billed as a "voting guide," the flier purports to inform voters on where incumbent state representative John McDonough and his challenger, Edward Suslovic, stand on the issues. But it provides McDonough's positions only. Under Suslovic's name, there are only black question marks. John Diffenbacher-Kroll, MPA's co-director, said he did not contact either of the candidates prior to printing and distributing the flier. McDonough, who said he knew nothing of the fliers, confirmed that he had MPA's endorsement. Dieffenbacher-Kroll said the MPA doesn't endorse candidates, but that it's "Campaign Vote" political action committee does.
