Jackson Brook Institute in South Portland was established as a private, for-prof
Jackson Brook Institute in South Portland was established as a private, for-profit mental health care facility in 1979. JBI's growing slice of the Medicaid pie suggests that the state has become increasingly reliant on the facility as an alternative to the Augusta Mental Health Institute, and some observers say that is bad news for both the mentally ill and Maine's taxpayers.
