Abstract

Profile of Gov. John Baldacci, the third of eight children of a Bangor restaurateur who was politically active. Baldacci and his siblings grew up working in the family restaurant, which was their second home. He later attended the University of Maine at Orono, and won his first seat on the Bangor City Council in 1978 at the age of twenty-three. He and his wife, Karen, now reside with their son, Jack, in the Blaine House in Augusta. Details.
