Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece on tourist statistics for the season, which have been surprisingly encouraging. Jack Cashman, commissioner of the Department of Economic and Community Development, said the number of tourists taking more than one day trip is up 14 percent over last year. Cashman noted a growth in nature-based tourism, but cautioned that the state's relatively small tourism budget is a problem.
