Abstract

"Capitol Update" piece on U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud, D-Maine, and his plan for a Northeast Regional Economic Development Commission. The House Transportation Committee has agreed to hold hearings on the proposal. Jonathan Daniels, president of the Bangor-based Eastern Maine Development Corp., said that the commission could provide the infrastructure that will support the activities of the existing development districts. Sen. Olympia Snowe, R-Maine, said she is having a companion bill to Michaud's legislation prepared for introduction in the Senate.
