Abstract

On June 29, a private company placed a single bid on the Androscoggin Bank Colisee, the city-owned convention center in Lewiston. Burdened by the Colisee's financial ups and downs, the mayor and city council voted in June to accept bids and explore the possibility of selling it to a private company. At the end of the 2007 fiscal year, the facility is more than $600,000 in the red. The contract with the Lewiston Maineiacs hockey team, which runs through 2018, must be honored as part of any sale.
