Abstract
"Focus on the Bangor Region" piece on Cheryl Stokes, 47, who went from sewing her son's soccer uniform in 1996 to creating an Atlanta-based company, Kidsgear Inc., which ultimately became a yearly $1.3 million franchise, Soccer Atlanta. She recently sold the company and partnered with Husson College men's soccer coach Seth Brown to create Atlantic Sports Group. They were approved to form two new Bangor-based amateur summer soccer teams, the Maine Sting and the Maine Tide, to play in the National Premier Soccer League and the Women's Premier Soccer League. In an interview, Stokes talks of her Atlanta-to-Maine commute, her hopes for the new teams, her partnership with Brown, and their focus on community service and education.
