Abstract

Ron Phillips, of Coastal Enterprises Inc.(CEI) in Wiscasset, was invited to a forum in Washington, D.C., as a representative of community development financial institutions. CDFIs are gaining prominence as a reliable delivery system for federal stimulus funds. CEI is recognized as a pioneer in the industry and helped draft the New Markets Tax Credit initiative, from which CEI received the largest single allotment nationwide. With a history of CEI, which was founded in 1977 as one of the first CDFIs, and details on how it acquires funding and the projects it funds.
