Abstract

"Focus Greater Bangor" piece on community support for a new $65 million arena in Bangor that was boosted by an apolitical strategy focusing on smaller donations from a variety of businesses. The funding for the arena project will be covered by money Bangor has received from Hollywood Slots and downtown TIF revenue and will not involve a tax increase. Bangor voters approved the project by a 3-to-1 margin. With sidebar about plans in Portland to update and create new event space.
