Abstract

Nelson & Small Inc. of Portland in the early 1980s abandoned its business strategy of diversified wholesaling in order to market direct-vent kerosene heaters to customers in New England. The company today is the sole Northeast distributor of Monitor and Toyostove vented kerosene heaters. Some 25,000 of the units are in Maine homes. Details.
