Abstract

Analysis of the proposed compromise between Central Maine Power Co (CMP) and the state's 100 private power producers, which if passed by the Legislature will result in the establishment of a board that could issue low-interest bonds to the state's major utilities so they can renegotiate contracts with independent power producers -- The proposed deal would also terminate a state Public Utilities Commission investigation of CMP's handling of contracts with the independent power producers -- Details, list of some of the independent power producers likely to become the focus of renegotiation efforts
