Abstract

Michael Collins, 44, of Winthrop, charged this month in connection with a major marijuana-trafficking operation, escaped from a New Brunswick jail in April 1976 while serving an 18-month sentence for possession with intent to distribute amphetamines. It is not clear whether Collins was a fugitive when arrested this month after purchasing 1,000 pounds of marijuana from an undercover agent with U.S. Drug Enforcement Agency. Details.
