Abstract

John Roberts, the Biddeford clothing manufacturer, on September 7 voluntarily converted from a Chapter 11 reorganization to a Chapter 7 liquidation, which may leave the company's unsecured creditors with nothing. The unsecured creditors, owed an estimated $350,000, have authorized attorney Robert Keach to challenged the Chapter 7 filing, and are considering filing claims against the Finance Authority of Maine and others for breaking agreements. A FAME official yesterday said the Chapter 7 filing could actually make it easier for the Biddeford company to reopen as a new company. Details.
